Annual Report - Canada Post

The project

I have worked on the large team that produces the digital version of Canada Post’s Annual Report for the past 5 years. In my role, I am responsible for making each page of the report digitally accessible and easy to navigate by creating all the meta data, alt text, and header hierarchy for its pages.

The challenge

The biggest challenge in this annual campaign is creating the image alt text. The report tends to include charts and diagrams that can be difficult to describe to non-sighted users in 140 characters or less.

The solution

I worked hard to be as concise and clear as possible in my alt text writing to enhance the user experience for non-sighted users. I worked closely with our Accessibility department to ensure the descriptions for more complicated images were suitable.
